A filter shared with another Mercedes does not establish that the other car has the same oil quantity, fuel-filter kit or maintenance schedule. Compare the complete references in any service pack, not just its “fits OM654” headline.
Read the reminder before the appointment

- Separate the base service from additional scheduled items.
- Identify the filters included, especially ventilation prefilter versus main cabin filter.

- Identify the gearbox before agreeing transmission-fluid work or selecting a kit.
- Keep an itemised invoice showing the work, fluids, parts, date and mileage.
If history is missing, a written catch-up plan is more useful than an unqualified “full service” label. Condition-based repairs and investigation of faults should also be clear on the quote.
What if the car mainly does short journeys?
The Mercedes manual identifies arduous use, including repeated short trips, city stops and long idling, as a reason for more frequent attention to certain service items. Discuss the actual use with the workshop rather than inventing one shorter interval for every E220 d.
