Before buying a replica or kit car
A specialist car should be assessed as an individual vehicle. Construction quality, identity and paperwork can matter just as much as the make or model named in the advert.
- Check the registration document, chassis identity and recorded make and model.
- Ask who built the car, when it was completed and whether build records survive.
- Inspect structural work, panel mounting, wiring, cooling and braking—not only the paintwork.
- Identify the donor vehicle and establish which components remain standard.
- Obtain an insurance quotation before agreeing to buy.
- Research replacement windscreens, lights, trim and model-specific body panels.
Important: individual vehicles, regulations and registration histories vary. Treat our features as a starting point and carry out independent mechanical, identity, legal and insurance checks before purchasing.
