What generic OBD2 can tell you

Choose it for a defined engine-emissions question. A successful connection does not prove coverage of ABS, airbags, door electronics or drivetrain controllers. VCDS: choose the complete setup
Ross-Tech lists HEX-V2 and HEX-NET for all Golf VII model years, while marking older HEX+CAN and Micro-CAN hardware as having limited 2016-onward rest-of-world coverage. Manual and DSG versions need different questions
Identify the fitted gearbox before asking about transmission access. Do not apply a six-speed DSG procedure to a seven-speed unit or interpret a manual car through a DSG fault list. A transmission report is evidence for diagnosis, not permission to reset learned values or run adaptations.

Can a clean scan prove a used car is healthy? No. It needs to be considered with service records, equipment checks and appropriate mechanical inspection. It cannot certify a clutch, turbocharger, driveline or every intermittent fault.
